Harvey Young

Harvey Young (@HarveyYoungNU) is Professor of Theatre, African American Studies, Performance Studies, and Radio/Television/Film at Northwestern University and President-elect of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE). His research on the performance and experience of race has been widely published in academic journals, including TDRModern DramaTheatre JournalTheatre TopicsTheatre Survey, and Text and Performance Quarterly. He is the author of Embodying Black Experience and Theatre & Race, coauthor of Black Theatre is Black Life: An Oral History of Chicago Theatre, and the editor or coeditor of four books, including The Cambridge Companion to African American Theatre and Performance in the Borderlands. He is series editor of “Second to None: Chicago None,” a trade book series published by Northwestern University Press; and the series coeditor (with David Krasner and Rebecca Schneider) of “Theater: Theory/Text/Performance” published by The University of Michigan Press.
