Laurence Senelick is Fletcher Professor of Drama and Oratory and Faculty Research Council Distinguished Scholar at Tufts University. His many books include the prize-winning The Chekhov Theatre: A Century of His Plays in Performance; The Changing Room: Sex, Drag and Theatre; and The Age and Stage of George L. Fox. He has edited The American Stage for the Library of America, as well as works on gender in performance, European cabaret, and national theatre in Northern and Eastern Europe. His translations of Chekhov, Gogol, Feydeau and others have been widely performed. He is an Alt-Fellow of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
