Sarah Beckwith is the Katherine Everitt Gilbert Chair of English, Religious Studies and Theater at Duke University. She is also currently Chair of the English department. She is the author of Christ’s Body(Rutledge, 1993) Signifying God (University of Chicago Press, 2001), and most recently Shakespeare and the Grammar of Forgiveness (Cornell University Press, 2011). She is co-editor of the Journal of Medieval and Early Modern Studies, and a founding co-editor, with James Simpson and David Aers, of the Re-Formations series at the University of Notre Dame Press. Her current project, Late Have I Loved You, explores tragic recognition and grace in Shakespeare’s late tragedies. She is also writing a book on versions of The Winter’s Tale entitled The Book of Second Chances.
